Why does generating the GIF take time?

To create a GIF entirely in your browser, our code must manually seek through your video file, take a snapshot of the cropped area 10 times a second, and then mathematically compress all those images into a GIF file. The speed depends entirely on your computer's processing power.

Are there file size limits?

Because everything runs locally, you aren't restricted by server upload limits. However, if you upload a massive 4K movie and try to generate a 20-minute GIF, your browser will likely crash from running out of RAM. Keep your trimmed clips short!

Can I convert YouTube videos?

You must have the raw video file downloaded to your computer to use this tool.
